[Slow and Steady] - Weekly Update #6

Wow, this was such an awesome week!

~I got FLOODED with comments (We have 193 when we started with 0!)
~At least 20-emails were sent to me
~The Game Concept seems to have been well-received!
~Added several FAQ questions
~Best of all... Got the beginnings of the game!

Thank you ALL so much! Your interest is what is motivating me to make this awesome game faster than I anticipated! Let's all hope that it lasts, right? :P



Now, I'm going to be honest - Yesterday and Today(it seems), I've been sick with the flu. I got literally nothing done yesterday, and I fear I won't either today. But, I WILL re-update all of the information I presented here on the site and the other pages I've spread throughout the internet (TFGameSite mostly).

I'm hoping that by clarifying and stating my intentions, what I expect out of the game, and the things that I want to do, we can all be on the same page, and you can all know if you really do want to play Alteratio - A Dungeon Beyond Worlds!

So, be on the look-out today as I slowly update EVERYTHING through my phone! My fingers are so going to hurt after this. [x_x]

Also, funny thing for everyone! Here are all the 'reviews' on Alteratio so far! Some are compliments, and some are really silly. You might know which ones I'm talking about ^.^

At least we all know that you can review NOTHING! Valuable lesson learned.

Alteratio is being stubborn with the coding - I'm made minimal progress, but I'm hoping by the time that I have my internet back up, I'll have something that works.

As for the other game (the one I'm submitting for Disability Contest), there are hardly any mechanics - its a story-telling game with some elements of CYOA. It's coming along greatly, and helps relieve the stress of being frustrated with the Coding of Alteratio. Soon as I'm done with this hardest bit of coding for Alteratio... boy oh boy! *Rubs Hands Together!*

'Cause everyone knows that a lot of people quit making a game after getting upset with it. 

I wish I could assure you:

I WILL NEVER QUIT MAKING ALTERATIO!

I'm just too damn stubborn! I'll never submit to a game! It MUST do what I want it to! Muhahahaha!




I do want to take a moment and state one thing that I will be changing today that seems to have been mis-communicated/misconstrued/misinterpreted/expected of Alteratio's theme:



This is a RTFRPG [Rogue-like Transformation Role-Playing Game]

This means that this is not an erotic/pornographic/fetish game.

It may contain some of the above themes, but those are to either aid the story or to change the pacing. THEY ARE NOT THE MAIN FOCUS!

I feel I came across that my intention was to make an erotic game, but I am honestly not.

Again, this is a Transformation Game - A Game of Consequences, if you will. I intend to make Alteratio meaningful, and by that I mean I want everything you do in the game to accomplish something. I'll probably lace in some life-lessons throughout the game.

This isn't your typical game.

Alteratio should be its own unique thing, and a first of its kind.




Now, you may notice that I'll be putting up a few poll throughout the day - one of these is SUPER important, the other is a personal preference. I'll also be posting up a 3rd poll because I am continually getting asked via PMs, on the blog here, or by e-mail.

The First One: What do you want to see FIRST in the game? Transformations, Combat, or Character Creator?

This is the first developmental question that I ask you, the community. You're all here for a reason, so why not ask you? You're now as much a part of this as I am, and some of you are wanting to support this in various ways! (FAQ, Questions, Submissions, Ideas, Corrections, Etc.), so you have every right to be involved in this! I wouldn't have released the game THIS early if I didn't want your input.

With that said, where do you want me to start? What do you want to see first?

This poll will last until next Monday, when I'll start getting to work on it!



The Second One: Color of the Play-Mat.

Several comment-ers have... commented that they believe that the color scheme doesn't fit a Fantasy setting, or is sometimes hard to read.

In order to alleviate this, I'll be posting up 9 pictures, each with a different background color that I find appropriate - you decide which one you want! Simple poll.

This can always change in the future - so don't feel pressured that this will always stay permanent. its just for now!



The Last One: Are you REALLY sure you want to donate this early?

I am SOOOOOOO iffy on this, especially right now when I have, quite literally, nothing to show for it. I'm glad you're all confident that I will continue to make this game (because I will! Shut-up, Nay-sayers!), but I just don't see how you would want to donate this early. *shrug*

I wouldn't even donate to this project :P

But I'm making a poll and gauging interest. I mean, if a majority of you ARE wanting to donate right now, why should I stop you? You just need to know a few things:

1) My first game EVER! You may not like what it ends up being/a direction I'm going or you might not even like it anymore after I clarify and modify everything after today.

Don't be that person who feels ' ripped off '. I just NOW stated that you should know what you're getting into before donating to a random person across the internet making a game you MAY enjoy.

2) You don't know how fast I'll get Updates out. Seriously, I have 0 documentation stating how often I will be updating the game - Early on (now), I'm expecting at LEAST an single update every 2 days (if not more), but things happen.

I do have a life outside of this, sadly, or I could be having difficulty with my newb programming skills. Whatever the case may be, you may not like the schedule of which I crank out more things for the game you like.

There will always be an update, but I can't always guarantee and IMMEDIATE update.
