It is my dearest apologies that I haven't been answering every single comment and/or submission right away at this moment - I have received over 3,000 views within the past 4 hours! That's 4 times more than I had before I posted this game - so I'm having to update everything like crazy, respond in a timely fashion, AND develop the game all simultaneously.
It's a bit of a juggle fest, but totally worth it!
So, I'm not ignoring you guys, but it's just taking time on my end.
To expedite some things, post a way to contact you when you do a submission or FAQ question! (unless you prefer to contact me when you see me reply "contact me!")
Thanks everyone! You're so awesome and have made me wear this big, dorky, goofy smile all day. And for some reason everything on my game has been that much easier....

I think you underestimated the number of people who are interested in watching a game develop.
ReplyDeleteA game like this, early in the development, is burdgeoning with promise and hope. Once the game-play and content are evident, some people will lose interest. If you have few updates, with a lot of time between them, you will also lose some interest. However, there are quite a few people, like myself, who are very patient and continue to check for game progress on games which haven't been updated in years.
The time it takes to check to see if a game which hasn't been updated in years has some new content takes only a few seconds, so the effort is worth the attempt.
I know there are complaints by many at the TFGames forum about incomplete games, but most of us are happy to play an incomplete game a few times. It's not about the completion of a story line, it's about a couple minutes to a couple hours of fun gameplay. Some time to escape the world we occupy for one which tickles our fantasy. A satisfactory completion of a story only adds to the enjoyment, but it isn't all that necessary.
And those of us who are satisfied with the effort which people have put in, generally don't comment. So it's hard to tell how many people are enjoying a game as often only the complaints are heard.
As it stands there are about three games I currently follow and correspond with the developer for bugs, suggestions, improvements, and often comments about what works well and what is awkward. I don't bother with games which already have a large community because I fear my comments would be lost in the general clamor. I certainly would be interested in following your effort from the pre-alpha stage, but I couldn't promise to comment often if there are already dozens of people making the same suggestions I would.
I don't think anyone is expecting everything to be done immediately. So enjoy the goofy grin now, and remember it when the negative comments do arrive in a few months. Remember that there are plenty of people who won't comment often, but still are interested in seeing what you come up with.
Cheers!
I have to agree with Flex here. I play a few games that are incomplete, and may never be finished but all of those games, share one thing in common, I lose myself in them for however long it takes to play through them.
DeleteEvery Time a new game is posted I give it a shot, some quickly show that they will not give that depth of losing myself in the role. Some have that spark that digs under my skin, making me want to see it develop. Your game has that spark in its very DNA, You have said that you were inspired by CoC, a game that brought me to TFG.com and in time to what you have laid out. The only question that remains is where will it end.
I purposefully took time to think on what I want to comment about this - this is by FAR the most nicest, awesome-est comment that I can ever get <3
DeleteI just assume that most people desire the things I can't give, and plan appropriately, thus why I'm doing my Early Early Alpha Access as an 'invite only' scenario. It's like my own personal control group of people who care, like you <3
I really don't know what to say other than you made me speechless! :)
I just hope I live up to everyone's expectations with this game (Just not the unrealistic ones ;P)
